Now your even your home network isn't safe from HDMI's unreliable, copy protected connection nightmares.
Silicon Image, Inc. today introduced the SiI9387 port processor and the SiI9334 transmitter, the first semiconductor products to incorporate the latest HDMI 1.4 specification features for digital television (DTV) and home theatre applications. The new devices offer a richer, more interactive HDMI entertainment experience by enabling new connectivity applications via Ethernet, such as Silicon Image's LiquidHD technology.
The SiI9387 port processor and the SiI9334 transmitter support the following HDMI 1.4 specification features:
HDMI Ethernet Channel
Devices using these chips will be able to transmit and receive full duplex data at 100Mb/sec over an HDMI cable.
Audio Return Channel
Drives a high quality S/PDIF signal through a single HDMI cable, simplifying connectivity in the home theatre. Keywords

2I'm waiting for HDMI 1.69 before I upgrade again!
Right on the money!! I had been using a 4 year old TWC SA DVR that allowed the digital audio to connect via digital coax to my auio system while still using HDMI A & V to connect to my Samsung HDTV. But, the box began to fail and TWC had to swap it out with a newer version. Since the new box no longer allowed digital audio out to work simultaniously with HDMI, I had to go back to the analog cables to the TV with digital audio going fom the box to the audio system. HDMI is great in concept but, it needs to offer much more flexibility. It is a good thing I only spent about $25.00 for the HDMI cable.
