Autonomic Controls, Inc. has announced the MMS-2, a two-source digital audio player designed to stream local and online media to a broader reach around the globe.

Scaled for smaller and secondary locations, the MMS-2 delivers the same functionality as the five-source Mirage Media Server (MMS-5), with support for Pandora, RadioTime, and SiriusXM Internet Radio, as well as iTunes, Windows Media, and other popular audio formats. The MMS-2 features 500GB of internal storage, two independent audio outputs--one 5.1 digital output and one analog output for a multi-room distribution system--and one video output for displaying metadata and photo slideshows.

Both the MMS-2 and MMS-5 automatically synchronize and stream content from Macs, PCs, and network-attached storage devices to multiple units in remote locations. The cloud provides secure, global access to local media and online streaming services through WiFi or 3G/4G mobile devices. Content scheduling allows users to create automated music programs in each zone of their home, anywhere in the world.

Each SKU claims integration with Crestron, AMX, URC, and other IP-based control systems. Mirage Media Controller (MMC) for iPhone and iPod Touch is currently available from the iTunes App Store for $19.99, and MMC for iPad is expected to arrive this month.

The Mirage Media Server MMS-2 will be available in mid-December for an MSRP of $1995.
