Black Friday gets its name from the concept that the day after Thanksgiving in the United States is when American retailers go from losing money all year long to becoming profitable or "in the black." In this tough economy, Friday might not be the day most get to the black but consumers have been conditioned that this special day is when you can land absolutely killer deals on "lost leader" consumer electronic products that quickly sell out.
