A small, Nordic audiophile record label is doing what the four majors should be doing by releasing their music both on HD discs and in HD downloads. For about the price of a traditional movie or concert video on Blu-ray, 2L is offering both an audiophile Blu-ray music disc and an SACD disc. The discs include 2.0, 5.1 and other surround formats. Reportedly, the discs are Blu-ray Profile 3.0 compliant which is seemingly ahead of the curve.

The discs, mostly of classical music, can be operated with or without a video source showing the label's understanding of their audiophile niche. You also can download the files for use on your media center PC as that market niche starts to show life. 2L is distributed by NAXOS in the Untied States and Asia. The label also has some records that have been nominated for a Grammy.

All titles from 2L are available at www.classicsonline.com and www.naxosmusiclibrary.com

Hear, Here!

I have one of the earliest pressings of Developmenti from these guys, and it is super cool to have ANY disc come in SACD as well as Blu-ray! I have heard they have some issues with their SACD processing, but regardless the difference between DTS-HD MA and SACD is major! I hope they develop a more diverse source list and convince others as well as they have proven this to me!

Well, someone finally shares your passion. But Jerry, is it too little to late now? Or, could this small company start a snowball effect? Like anything else, they need more titles. Start calling the artists now!!
