Comcast announced today that they will be taking Versus, The Golf Channel, E Entertainment Television, G4 and Style to high definition resolutions today. Comcast cable subscribers are practically guaranteed to get these channels on their system however other digital cable and HD satellite providers might be a little lower to add these new high definition channels because of bandwidth concerns. Versus HD is already on DirecTV however E! is not on in high definition at this point. Other cable providers wouldn't drag their feet in adopting Comcast owned channels would they? Time will tell.
Comcast is still one of the most unpredictable providers of high definition content. They own the Philadelphia Flyers NHL franchise yet force the NHL to run standard definition feeds for the team on their increasingly HD "NHL Center Ice" plan. This move towards HD on some of Comcast's networks hopefully will end the suffering caused by hockey fans being forced to watch the best HD sport at standard definition resolutions.
Keywords: Comcast, E!, Versus Network, National Hockey League, NHL, High Definition, HD, Comcast in HD, Comcast Networks in high definition.
