Denon_AHD7000.gifDenon Electronics, one of the world's premier manufacturers of high-quality home entertainment components, today announced the introduction of the ultra reference quality Model AH-D7000 over-ear headphones (SRP: $999), a well engineered, private listening solution that provides users with the opportunity to experience musical fidelity in a new level of comfort, style and luxury. The new AH-D7000 headphones are engineered with a host of advanced audio technologies designed to provide listeners with the very best performance from all sources, including high-resolution audio formats such as SACD and DVD-Audio.

With the introduction of the ultra-luxury AH-D7000 headphones, Denon now offers a full line of advanced stereo headphones for every lifestyle and budgetary need, ranging from the "earbud" inner ear models, the AH-C351 (SRP: $49), AH-C551 (SRP: $99) and AH-C751 (SRP: $199), to the "on-the-ear" Model AH-D1001 (SRP: $149) and two additional state-of-the-art "over the ear" models, the AH-D2000 (SRP: $349) and AH-D5000 (SRP: $699).

Old World Craftsmanship Combined with Today's Most Advanced Audio Technologies
Denon's AH-D7000 over-ear headphones combine old world craftsmanship with state-of-the-art technologies to literally redefine the ultimate in headphone listening. The large diameter (50mm, 1.97") free edge Microfiber diaphragms provide extended frequency response, from the lowest bass notes all the way up to 45 kHz. The smaller size of the micro-fiber (1/100th compared to natural cellulose) results in a denser diaphragmatic material that increases frequency transmission rates for better sound and detail, affording maximum presence of acoustic sounds
with low distortion. Further enhancing audio quality, high strength Neodymium magnets provide high efficiency and freedom from motor structure non-linearity.

The elegant housings of the AH-D7000 headphones are crafted from real Mahogany wood - the same grade used to craft fine guitars - with intricate internal carving to enhance the natural tonal balance. The elegant over-the-ear design assures hours of listening comfort, aided by the lightweight Duralumin headband, along with soft leather ear pads and headband cover. They are finished in a soft satin piano gloss and the lightweight tangle-free cable features reference grade 7N OFC (7 Nines - 99.99999% Oxygen Free Copper) wiring, finished with an elastomer-coated cloth sheathing. The AH-D7000 headphones come with a luxurious storage case.

This is a major surprise to me, but a real good one. Denon, I never saw as a company to get involved with headphones. This just goes to show the growth of listening to music thru high quality, high end headphones. I would love to get my hands on these phones to check them out.
AKG, Sennheiser, and Sony are not the only game in town anymore.

Just an additional comment. These Denon headphones are getting a lot of press, pretty quickly. I recently found out, that already there is a company that does modiifications and upgrades to these Denon phones. They are called Lawton Audio. Looks like the work is first rate.
A review of how much better they are after Lawton does the mod, would be great.
