Essence-Audio2.gifA new line of electrostats called Essence Audio has been announced to music enthusiasts and audiophiles worldwide. The first model is called the Essence 1200; it stands 48.5 inches tall x 11.5 inches wide x 1.1 inches deep. Its frequency response is 50 Hz to 24 KHz (-3dB) with 86dB efficiency. MSRP is $2,995 per pair for this floor standing model. Production has begun, with delivery beginning in February 2010 in Europe with global shipments coming in April 2010. The Essence line will be comprised of the 1200 speakers plus two larger models, the 1600 at 60 inches tall and the 1900 at 72 inches tall.

One hallmark of the Essence line is that it will not suffer from cabinet coloration because there are no conventional speaker cabinets to resonate. In conventional speakers, cabinet resonance is a problem to be solved through bracing and other costly engineering methods. In an electrostatic speaker, there is no cabinet so there is no resonance, thereby recreating the sound of a live performance more faithfully than any other type speaker. Because it's diaphragm is lighter than the air it moves, an electrostatic speaker is capable of moving 10 times faster than a conventional speaker cone, delivering clarity and resolution of such high definition that hearing them is considered by many to be a religious experience, one that creates goosebumps when you listen. Those who know, know. Those who have heard an electrostatic speaker never forget the sound. When done correctly, it can be magical.

In the USA, Bob Rapoport will be selling Essence once it becomes available. Interested parties can contact Bob at 727-866-0799, bob@ trgmarketing.com for further details.

Support For Final Loudspeakers
Essence Audio founder and co-founder of the now-defunct Final Loudspeakers, Maarten Smits, has setup support for current Final Loudspeaker owners who might need repairs. Maarten has set up a service depot in The Netherlands called ESL Repair Service, contact maarten.smits@ pantaramsterdam.nl (+31 (0) 620362270) for a listing of all models and brands that can be serviced with re-foiling, replacement stator assemblies, power transformers, etc. Final owners worldwide are assured that service for their Final Electrostats will be available.
