Founded by Jim Fosgate in 1973, Rockford Fosgate patented the concept of Bass Boost for car audio, and has remained one of the biggest brands and producers of high performance car audio products and accessories. In the late 1980's, the brand name Fosgate made some of the first outboard audiophile grade surround sound processors for home theater use.  Mr. Fosgate won a Technology and Engineering Emmy Award in 2003.
