From High Resolution Technologies
High Resolution Technologies (HRT) has announced that it has launched a Kickstarter campaign to fund the production of its new nano series dSp and i-dSp digital sound processors, two ultra-compact, affordable accessories that provide significantly improved headphone sound quality from smartphones, tablets and portable devices.

The HRT dSp (SRP: $69.99) works with Android L and other devices, and the i-dSp (SRP: $69.99) works with Lightning-connector-equipped Apple products, including iPhone 5 and 6, iPod touch and current iPad models. The dSp will also operate with compatible iOS 6 (and newer) devices with a 30-pin connector when used with the 30-pin to USB-A adapter from the Apple iPad Camera Connection Kit.

HRT is seeking funding for the initial production run of the dSp and i-dSp, and individuals who contribute to the Kickstarter campaign can receive numerous discount levels on the purchase of either model or multiple models and have units reserved for them. Details on the Kickstarter campaign including a product video are available here.

The dSp and i-dSp incorporate proprietary HRT digital sound processing and a high-performance headphone amplifier. Simply connect the dSp or i-dSp between the device and the headphones to enjoy richer, more natural sound with better resolution, spatiality and dynamics. No user setup is required. The dSp and i-dSp work with all streaming music services and source material, including better-than-CD-quality high-resolution audio.

"Our new dSp and i-dSp are fully developed and ready to bring to market," said Mike Hobson, Chief Executive Officer at HRT. "We feel that everyone deserves top-quality sound at a great value, and the dSp and i-dSp transform any phone or portable device into a superb-sounding player for music, video and gaming via your favorite headphones. To that end we intend to produce the dSp and i-dSp in large numbers. But in order to do that, we need the help of the people who feel the same way we do."

The goal of the HRT Kickstarter campaign is to initiate production by March 1, 2015.

The HRT dSp and i-dSp are compatible with all audio formats supported by portable devices running Android, Windows, Apple iOS, and OSX. Both require extremely low power consumption, yielding extended playing times. Both models support all audio formats, including MP3, AAC, FLAC, PCM, Apple and Windows lossless and all streaming audio and video formats.

The nano series dSp and i-dSp draw from HRT's pioneering R&D in the USB audio accessories category and decades of involvement in high-end audio. Both models incorporate high-performance microelectronics and proprietary digital sound processing software to deliver the very best listening experience possible from any headphones. With its included adapter cable, the dSp can also be used as an outboard digital sound processor with desktop and notebook computers.
