Mohu's Leaf Antenna Helps Users to Save on HDTV

Mohu, Inc's Leaf HDTV Antenna debuted on Amazon just a few months ago and quickly became the top-selling, top-rated HDTV antenna on the market. The company is rolling out its 'paper-thin' antenna this fall and holiday season to retailers nationwide. Since its introduction of the Leaf, Mohu has heard from customers who are 'cutting the cord' on their expensive cable bills and using the Leaf to pull in HDTV network programming like the top shows sporting events, local news and weather. Some people are still unaware that the top 20 highest-rated shows on TV are available in full HD over the air, free. And according to the latest Adweek/Harris Interactive poll, more than 50% of the respondents said they had interest in cancelling their cable service.

"I was like many folks who wanted out of satellite or cable TV. I went through the package game where they tell you that you can get over 200 channels, but like many other people, you watch about a dozen," says Walt, a Leaf customer from Tennessee. "I bought a Leaf a few months ago after an exhaustive search to find an HDTV antenna that really works. My internet-ready TV now gets 28 free local channels, and all network channels in full, uncompressed HD. We then got Netflix for $8, Hulu for $8 and Pandora for free. We went from $1,300 a year to $192 a year with many more channels than we really watch."

"We were so glad to have found out about the Leaf," says Amy, another Leaf customer from New York City. "We checked the reviews [of the Leaf] on Amazon every once and a while and were amazed how positive they were. We found out we were moving in 30 days and when we got to our new place, we would not be getting cable, just OTA and Netflix. But my boyfriend needed his NFL in HD. I was shocked to see the price we would have paid. So we just went with the Leaf and Netflix and couldn't be more satisfied."

"One of my favorite stories came from a gentleman who was a rugby fan," said Mohu's Director of Marketing, Brian Baucom. "The cable channel carrying the World Cup wanted $150 for the package and $25 per match to stream. But the matches were available in HD over-the-air for free. Our customer bought a Leaf and was able to watch the channel that was unavailable with his previous HDTV antenna. Many of our customers use the Leaf on an extra HD set in the kitchen or bedroom. You can watch your Sunday NFL or other events in better HD quality than cable or dish feeds provide."
