Electronics giant Panasonic just got a lot bigger with the 6 billion dollar plus acquisition of Sanyo. The deal gets Panasonic one of the largest projector manufacturers in the world as well as a company known for batteries and many other electronic devices.

The move to the hoop by Panasonic comes in down economic times and offers the company a chance to truly boost its market share as other AV makers are reeling and or making cuts. If the global economy shows signs of recovery in 2009, this could be an amazingly shrewd decision on the part of Panasonic.

Pretty large move here by Panasonic. Especially now. however, if what panasonic is after is their projector lineup, this may prove to be a good deal later on. Only time will tell.

For a custom install company like ourself who uses Panasonic Pro displays and Sanyo projectors as a second tier line, (our top tier line is Runco), this should do nothing but help us. Sanyo is huge in other CE areas and supporting CE equipment such as batteries. If anyone can make a good company better, Panasonic can. Let's see what happens. Edward G.
