ReplayTV
ReplayTV was the first real DVR or digital video recorder. Many believe PR executive Kimberly Lancaster (Caster Communications - the PR firm for Runco, Paradigm, Microsoft and many others) named the company. They had a sexy interface that was quickly usurped by TiVo. D&M Holdings bought the rights to the company and name yet never built back the early magic, and eventually divested. TiVo is the "Kleenex" or "Xerox" brand name for DVRs or PVRs still to this day despite their being dumped like a bad habit by DirecTV.
