062310.Runco_logo.gifRunco, a provider of video solutions for the luxury home, has announced the launch of its Digital Cinema Concierge, exclusively available for certified Runco dealers. This new offering enables Runco dealers to provide their clients with complete projection and media server systems, custom-engineered and built to specifications to meet the exact needs of each individual client and certified to meet the standards of Digital Cinema Initiatives (DCI).

Digital Cinema Initiatives, LLC is a joint venture between Disney, Fox, Paramount, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal, and Warner Bros. Studios, created to establish a standard of technical specifications, performance, and quality control for first-run commercial digital cinemas. Genuine DCI systems, with their related encryption and visual performance, are crafted by only a handful of manufacturers and are designed for those with access to digitally-distributed first-run Hollywood films. DCI projection systems are known worldwide for their unique imagery. They boast a palette of trillions of colors (DCI color space) and resolutions that exceed high-definition home video standards.

"The home theater is unique, for unlike any other room in the house, it is designed to display some of the greatest products of the imagination - our passion, hopes, and fears. A theater has a personality and life all its own; a sense of excitement lures us to the promise of an incomparable experience. And when the curtains part, our window upon the universe opens wide, and the heart begins to beat a little faster," said Theo Kalomirakis, President TK Theaters. "Runco understands the unique joy of home theater and, for decades, has created personal cinema displays that mirror - and often exceed - the powerful experience of the local cineplex. Runco's passion and commitment to excellence is one of the many reasons I use them in many of my theaters."

Far more than a hardware offering, Runco's Digital Cinema Concierge is a complete solution providing Runco dealers with everything they need to service their most influential clients. Runco sales engineers will personally review plans for every new installation and develop a complete solution for each project, complete with a DCI-compatible projector suited for the job, lens options, and a proprietary Runco Digital Cinema Media Server (DCMS). The Runco DCMS is compliant with Digital Cinema Initiative specifications enabling the playback of locked content, including Texas Instruments (TI) CineLink 2 encryption, MXF and JPEG2000 Interop specifications. In compliance with student standards, it offers 2048-bit RSA encryptions and forensic watermarking support with Civolution NexGuard. The Runco DCMS will support both DCinema and ECinema content formats in 2k and 1080p resolutions. It's web-based user interface shows status and can allow for transport control, scheduling, content ingest, key management, media management, as well as setup and maintenance. Matching the needs of this high-end client who wants to watch both 2D and 3D content, the Runco DCMS also enables 3D playback, including optional Dolby 3D upgrade. Runco's Digital Cinema Concierge is a video solution custom configured to the needs of the client for their private screening room.

Each system is set-up at the factory and tested in a replicate environment to the eventual home to maximize performance and then shipped to the site where Runco will also provide on-site installation and calibration services as well two years' worth of on-site service and repair as part of its PremierCare program. Throughout the sale, installation, and maintenance of the theater, Runco has DCI-trained in-house consultants ready to assist dealers with any digital cinema issues that may arise.

"Our goal is to provide our dealers with all of the tools and support they need to deliver the ultimate digital cinema experience for the select clients who have very large private cinemas," said Jennifer Davis, vice president of marketing for Runco. "Runco is recognized as the leader in custom video and the company is now poised to bring that same sterling reputation for excellence to professional digital cinema in the personal theater. Whether in a home in Bel Air or Miami, or a vacation property in Aspen, the private screening room is becoming a reality with Runco's new Digital Cinema Concierge service."

Runco's Digital Cinema Concierge is available exclusively through the Runco authorized dealer network. For more information about Runco or to find a local dealer in your area, please visit www.Runco.com.
