Sherwood Newcastle is a Korean company with long standing ties to the audiophile and home theater world. Run in the United States by Jeff Hipps, Sherwood makes one of the best 7.1 room correction AV receivers on the market but are better known as an OEM manufacturer for other AV companies. Sherwood Newcastle is the high-end line of the Sherwood brand, founded in Chicago in 1953. Under the Sherwood name, they sell lower level products to stores like Sears and Home Depot while the Sherwood Newcastle line is designed more for the performance oriented market.
