SOTA

Sota played a huge role in the renaissance of turntables in the late 1980s, with its acclaimed Star Sapphire turntable. The Sota Star's vacuum hold-down system and robust build quality impressed hordes of critics and customers throughout the world.

Sota followed up on the Star's success with the less-expensive Comet, and the more expensive Cosmos and Millenia.
The Sota Millennia, for example, is a vacuum enhanced turntable that features an internally balanced and damped 15.2lb, one-piece, cast platter with an anti-static Groove Damper Mat. The A/C Stepper Motor has a synthesized sine-wave drive.

Similar to Sota are brands that include SME, Clearaudio, and Pro-ject.
