SANYO, one of the world's largest manufacturers of LCD and DLP projectors launches two new high brightness and high-resolution models - the PDG-DET100L and the PLC-WTC500L - during INFOCOMM, in Orlando, Florida. Both projectors offer features and reduced maintenance for improved performance in a variety of commercial applications including medical imaging.

"SANYO offers the high brightness PDG-DET100L and PLC-WTC500L with reduced maintenance features for our customers that use projectors on a daily basis and just need them to work effortlessly and flawlessly every time," says Mark Holt, the Vice President and General Manager for SANYO's Presentation Technologies Division. "With the release of these two projectors, we are demonstrating how SANYO continues to provide new ways to meet the needs of the various commercial markets such as high performance medical imaging that rely on our projectors."

PDG-DET100L DLP PROJECTOR FEATURES
The PDG-DET100L is the brightest DLP projector in its class, rated at 7500 lumens with a SXGA compatible resolution of 1400 x 1050. When the DICOM Simulation Mode is activated, the PDG-DET100L projects X-ray images clearly and precisely, making it ideal for use in medical education. This mode is a format standard for digital imaging and communications in medicine.

Contributing to its increased light output efficiency, the PDG-DET100L is outfitted with 330W VIDI ™ UHP x 2 lamps. To achieve high brightness and rich color reproduction, it is also equipped with SANYO's unique user-changeable, two color wheel system. The projector ships with a color wheel that is optimized for higher brightness. A second color wheel that is optimized for rich color reproduction is included in the package. Also, a built-in Color Matching management function corrects variations in color reproduction when using more than one projector.

A dust-resistant Sealed Optical Engine maintains performance stability by preventing dust build up, while maintaining optimal brightness and contrast. This model also provides an Edge Blending function that allows for boundary-less images with multi-image display possibilities.

PLC-WTC500L LCD PROJECTOR FEATURES
The PLC-WTC500L LCD projector achieves a high brightness of 5000 lumens, a contrast ratio of 3000:1,

and delivers a WXGA (1280x800) native resolution. Outfitted with a new optical engine using an inorganic panel, the PLC-WTC500L also features SANYO's Lamp Selection System, which automatically selects one of two lamps to project from, making it possible to project approximately 6000 hours before its time to replace the lamps.

An IC-equipped Lamp Box for Projection Time Management is incorporated for management of the projection time for each lamp depending on the mode selected. The "Alternating Mode" allows a rotating pattern that alternates the two lamps' use time, while the "Relay Mode" uses one lamp continuously then switches lamps when the first one is no longer usable. This eliminates the need to stock up spare lamps far in advance because when the first lamp is fully used, the next is already loaded, allowing for seamless presentations and longer projection life.

Both models feature Picture-in-Picture and Picture-by-Picture modes, which enables the simultaneous projection of two images from separate sources. The Picture-in-Picture Mode displays a sub-screen over the main screen. The location of the sub-screen is user defined. The Picture- by- Picture mode displays the images side-by-side. This is ideal for conference calls, making it possible to see the presenters and the presentation at the same time.

Features Common to Both Models
In an effort to further provide high reliability and easy maintenance, both models are equipped with SANYO's exclusive Active Maintenance Filter (AMF) system, which detects air blocks or clogs, then scrolls the filter reel to the next clean filter. There are ten filters included in every cartridge, dramatically lowering maintenance and the time required to check and change filters.

Installation and operation is quick and fast due to the advanced lens function with power vertical/horizontal lens shift plus a 360-degree vertical tilt, allowing the projectors to be positioned almost anywhere, including the ceiling or the floor. The vertical shift provides a maximum adjustment of +50% with the horizontal shift providing a maximum adjustment of +/-15%. Additionally, a mechanical shutter completely blocks out lamplight.

These products conform to the EU RoHS Directive and the packaging contains pulp molds, which can be recycled as used paper.
