Velodyne Acoustics, Inc., a manufacturer of powered subwoofers for home-theater and consumer audio, announces the introduction of the SC-600 Series, a line of subwoofers for the custom installation market. The SC-600 Series is a less expensive solution than the current SubContractor Series offered by Velodyne and consists of the SC-600 IW (In-Wall) subwoofer, the SC-600 IF/IC (In-Floor/In-Ceiling) subwoofer and the SC-600 amplifier, a 400-watt dynamic power amp which controls both subwoofers.

The SC-600 IW (In-Wall) subwoofer installs easily in either new construction or retrofit applications due to its one-piece sealed enclosure. A unique triple vector design, with two active 6.5" long-throw drivers and two custom passive radiators firing at 45 degree angles, maximizes excursion within the wall cavity and reduces wall vibration by 50%. The 16.25" × 14" grille fits flush in a standard 2×4 wall.

The SC-600 IF/IC (In-Floor/In-Ceiling) subwoofer can be concealed in the floor, ceiling, riser, closet or other enclosures, and features a 12" driver mounted in a slot-loaded, bass-reflex cabinet. In addition, the SC-ICG (In-Ceiling Grille) is a paintable, perforated metal 12" grille available as an option for ceiling installations.

The SC-600 amplifier powers the SC-600 IW and SC-600 IF/IC subwoofers. With 400 watts peak power and 200 watts RMS, it comes complete with a one-touch, five-band Auto-EQ room bass correction system and IR remote with customized listening presets for movies, R&B/rock, jazz/classical and games. Subwoofer volume, phase and night mode can also be adjusted via the remote control. The two-unit high, rack-mount amplifier is easily connected to the subwoofer with conventional speaker wire and includes RS-232 control (Crestron certified), 12V trigger and an IR repeater jack.

"The SC-600 Series is the best concealed bass for under $1000," said Bruce Hall, president of Velodyne. "The Velodyne engineers have perfectly matched the cabinet, drivers and amp for the best sound possible and installation is truly as easy as cut, plug and play."

All three products in the SC-600 line have a suggested retail price of $499.50 and are available immediately.
