German audio manufacturer T+A elektroakustik has unveiled the Symphonia, a high-end streaming integrated amplifier that brings together modern technology and a vintage-inspired design. Built to be an all-in-one music hub, it’s packed with both analog and digital connectivity, powerful amplification, and advanced digital processing—aiming to satisfy both vinyl lovers and high-resolution streaming enthusiasts alike.
T+A describes the Symphonia as part of its "Future of Retro" approach—combining a classic aesthetic with cutting-edge tech. On the outside, it sports a sleek aluminum front panel with beveled edges and old-school VU meters, which give it a nostalgic hi-fi feel.
But don’t let the vintage look fool you—this amp is packed with modern features. Available in silver and black, the design keeps things clean and minimalist while staying true to T+A’s signature industrial styling.
“Technologically closely related to our beloved R-Series and Series 200, its very concept makes the Symphonia unique. The Symphonia merges state-of-the-art streaming technology, advanced digital-to-analog conversion, and high-performance amplification in a design that celebrates T+A’s iconic past from the M Systems of the 1990s all the way to our Series 200. Yet, its technology and usability look firmly to the future,” says T+A’s COO Conradin Amft.
On the back, you’ll find a wide range of inputs and outputs to cover just about any audio setup. There are two analog RCA inputs, a phono input for MM and high-output MC cartridges, and two digital inputs (TOSLINK and coaxial).
It also includes two USB-C ports—one for connecting a USB DAC and the other for playing files from external storage. If you're using it in a home theater setup, there's an HDMI ARC port for TV audio, plus preamplifier and subwoofer outputs for system expansion.
Under the hood, the Symphonia is built for high-quality digital playback. It runs on T+A’s third-generation Audiophile Streaming Architecture (ASA G3), which supports direct access to major streaming services like Tidal, Qobuz, Amazon Music, and Deezer. It’s also compatible with Spotify Connect, Tidal Connect, and Apple AirPlay 2 (pending certification).
For those who prefer high-resolution audio, the Symphonia has you covered. In USB DAC mode, it can handle PCM files up to 32-bit/768kHz and DSD512, while network streaming supports up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM and DSD256. The amp also includes bidirectional Bluetooth with aptX HD, meaning you can either stream music from your phone to the Symphonia or send audio to Bluetooth headphones.
One interesting aspect of the Symphonia is its dual-DAC design. Instead of using a single converter for everything, T+A includes separate dedicated converters for PCM and DSD audio. The 1-bit DSD converter processes DSD files natively, while the PCM Double-Differential DAC is designed to minimize distortion and improve clarity.
At its core, the Symphonia uses Purifi Eigentakt amplification, a Class D platform developed by Danish engineers. Traditional Class D amplifiers have had issues like distortion and phase noise, but Purifi Eigentakt is designed to reduce these problems, delivering cleaner, more accurate sound regardless of volume or speaker load.
The amp outputs 125 watts per channel at 8 ohms and 250 watts per channel at 4 ohms, with a damping factor over 800—which basically means it has tight control over speaker movement for precise sound reproduction. Frequency response runs from 1Hz to 60kHz in the amp stage, while the preamp extends even further, reaching 0.5Hz to 300kHz.
Beyond music streaming and amplification, the Symphonia offers FM, DAB, and internet radio for those who still enjoy traditional broadcasting. A headphone jack on the front allows for private listening, and Roon Ready certification is reportedly in the works.
T+A has also included its Sine power supply, which runs at twice the frequency of traditional power supplies. According to the company, this helps reduce interference and improve efficiency, contributing to cleaner power delivery.
The T+A Symphonia is available for pre-order at $9,990, with shipping expected in April 2025. It will be sold through specialist audio retailers in silver and black finishes.
