A New Contender in Lifestyle TVs: The TCL NXTFrame Unveiled with Bang & Olufsen Audio

The TCL NXTFrame series seeks to outshine Samsung's The Frame TV by combining an ultra-thin profile with customizable art and superior audio quality.

A New Contender in Lifestyle TVs: The TCL NXTFrame Unveiled with Bang & Olufsen Audio

TCL has recently introduced its NXTFrame series, aiming to carve out a niche in the lifestyle TV market currently dominated by Samsung’s The Frame, with Hisense also entering the market recently with their CanvasTV. TCL’s NXTFrame and its premium counterpart, the TCL NXTFrame Pro, offer a blend of advanced TV technology and aesthetic appeal, designed to integrate seamlessly into modern living spaces.

The TCL NXTFrame series is touted as the "world's thinnest all-in-one TV," with the standard models featuring a 1.1-inch deep chassis and the Pro models slightly thicker at 1.2 inches. This slim profile allows the TV to mount flush against the wall, enhancing its resemblance to a piece of art rather than a conventional television.

This design is complemented by an anti-reflective matte screen and a magnetic frame system, allowing users to switch between an off-white bezel and a light wood-colored frame to match their décor.

The display itself is a 4K quantum-dot (QLED) panel, ensuring vibrant colors and deep contrasts. The TV supports multiple high dynamic range (HDR) formats, including Dolby Vision IQ, HDR10+, HDR10, and HLG, providing a rich viewing experience. Additionally, TCL's QLED Pro technology and High Brightness+ LED Backlight contribute to more accurate color reproduction and brighter images.

The most notable feature of the TCL NXTFrame series is of course its ability to function as a digital art display. The TVs come pre-loaded with an extensive Art Library, featuring a range of paintings, photographs, drawings, and street art.

Users can customize the display with adjustable matting, finishes, and colors to enhance the presentation of each piece of art. The personal photo gallery feature includes several static and motion options, as well as a screen saver mode with background music capability.

The interactive AI Art mode offers a unique touch, using artificial intelligence to curate a personalized art experience based on user preferences. This mode not only enhances the visual appeal of the displayed art but also optimizes the color, contrast, and clarity of the images, leveraging TCL's AiPQ processor.

While the standard TCL NXTFrame models include built-in 20-watt speakers that support Dolby Atmos, the Pro models take audio quality a step further. Co-engineered with Danish hi-fi company Bang & Olufsen (B&O), the NXTFrame Pro models come equipped with a 3.1.2-channel soundbar and a wireless subwoofer. This setup, featuring B&O's BeoSonic digital interface, allows users to customize and refine their sound experience, providing a more immersive audio environment.

The TCL NXTFrame series is also designed to cater to a wide range of entertainment needs, including gaming. With a 120Hz/144Hz variable refresh rate (VRR) and TCL's Motion Rate 480 technology, the TV offers smooth motion handling, essential for action-packed games and fast-paced sports. Additional features like Auto Game Mode and AMD FreeSync Premium support ensure a responsive gaming experience with minimal lag.

On the smart functionality front, the NXTFrame series is powered by Google TV, providing access to a plethora of streaming services and smart home integrations. The TVs support Apple AirPlay 2, Amazon Alexa, Google Assistant, and Apple HomeKit, offering users the convenience of voice control and seamless connectivity with other smart devices.

The TCL NXTFrame series will be available in September 2024 in various sizes, ranging from 55 inches to 85 inches, with both standard and Pro versions. The pricing for the standard models starts at $1,500 for the 55-inch 55A300W, increasing to $4,000 for the 85-inch 85A300W. The Pro models, which include the enhanced audio package, start at $2,000 for the 55-inch 55A300WPRO and go up to $5,000 for the 85-inch 85A300WPRO.

TCL also offers several accessories to enhance the versatility of the NXTFrame series, including a $700 easel-style stand with detachable wheels and $150 table feet. These options provide additional flexibility for users who may prefer not to mount the TV on the wall.
