AKG

Founded in Vienna in 1947, AKG produces one of the most respected and recognized lines of microphones and headphones in the world. In addition to its own products, AKG also designs and manufactures products for many well-known brands throughout the world. Among other achievements, AKG, emerging from war-torn Austria, in the 1950s designed and produced the world's first dynamic cardioid microphone. AKG extended this innovation into reverb units and headphones, and, eventually, wireless microphones and the lucrative market for cell phone microphones. Harman International bought AKG in 1994, and the company remains as vibrant and productive today as ever.
