If you own an Arcam AV receiver or music streamer, there’s some good news—Arcam has rolled out a major software update that improves audio streaming and HDMI functionality. This update (v1.62 or v2057, depending on the model) is available for download now, and there are even plans for over-the-air (OTA) updates in the future to make things even easier.

One of the biggest perks of this update is that it brings high-resolution Tidal Connect streaming to the SA30 streaming amplifier and the ST60 standalone music streamer. Before this, Tidal could only be accessed through Arcam’s MusicLife app, and streaming was limited to MQA. Now, these devices can stream directly via Tidal Connect at up to 24-bit/192kHz, offering a noticeable boost in quality for users who want to get the most out of their music.

Even though the SA30 and ST60 are no longer in production, Arcam is keeping them relevant with this update—something owners will definitely appreciate.

Arcam’s update isn’t just about music streamers. A bunch of its AV receivers are also getting improvements, specifically in how they handle HDMI connections. Here’s the list of AVRs getting the update:

For these models, the update improves eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel) via HDMI 2.1, meaning better compatibility and smoother audio when connected to modern TVs and sources. If you have an older HDMI 2.0 model, don’t worry—Arcam says those will get the update too, once final testing is completed, likely in the first half of 2025.

Right now, the update isn’t automatic—you’ll need to download it from Arcam’s website and install it using a USB drive. Full instructions are available on the site to walk you through the process, and Arcam dealers have also been notified, so you can reach out to them if you need any help.

That said, Arcam is working on adding OTA updates in the future, which would make life easier by letting users update their devices without needing to manually download files. No timeline on that yet, but it’s in the works.

It’s always great when a company keeps supporting its products, even after they’ve been on the market for a while. By adding high-res streaming to the SA30 and ST60 and improving HDMI eARC functionality in its AV receivers, Arcam is making sure its users get new features without having to buy new gear.

If you’re using Tidal Connect or rely on HDMI eARC for your setup, this update should make a noticeable difference. And if you’re someone who dreads firmware updates, knowing that OTA updates might be on the way should be a relief.

For now, if you’re ready to upgrade your device, head over to Arcam’s website, grab the update, and enjoy the new features.
