Romanian audio brand Meze Audio has unveiled the AER 105, its latest entry into the high-end headphone market. Designed for over-ear, open-back listening, these headphones aim to provide a detailed and versatile sound profile suitable for a variety of music genres. Set to release in early December, the AER 105 is priced at €399 / $399.
At 336 grams, the AER 105 is the lightest open-back model Meze Audio has produced, making it suitable for extended listening sessions. The headphones feature a combination of premium materials, including a cast zinc alloy and stamped manganese spring steel in the frame, along with a PU leather headband for added comfort. The velour ear coverings further enhance the ergonomics, ensuring a snug yet breathable fit.
The design incorporates Meze Audio’s characteristic attention to detail, blending aesthetics with functionality. The open-back configuration not only reduces weight but also allows for a more natural and spacious audio performance, catering to listeners who value clarity and depth in their music.
"105 AER carries a feeling of Art Deco opulence, almost like a piece of jewellery masked in a mechanical structure. Certain curves and surfaces are not obvious at first glance; there's an ambiguity to the three-dimensional shape inviting you to discover it over time," explains Paul Șteț, Meze Audio’s Senior Product Designer.
The AER 105 includes 50mm dynamic driver membranes that have been tuned to offer a refined voicing, catering to a broad range of musical genres. With a slight emphasis on bass and sub-bass frequencies, the headphones deliver a resonant foundation to tracks, enhancing immersion and creating a full-bodied listening experience.
