Fasetto, a technology IP solutions provider, has achieved a significant milestone with its Audio Cu product, receiving the prestigious Dolby Atmos Product Certification. This achievement positions Fasetto as a notable player in home audio innovation, as Audio Cu is the first product certified by Dolby Laboratories to deliver Dolby Atmos sound through a home’s power lines.
Audio Cu represents a departure from traditional audio connectivity methods. Instead of relying on speaker cables or wireless solutions, Audio Cu sends audio signals over a home’s existing electrical wiring. This technology allows users to set up a home audio system using just the power outlets in their home. By leveraging power line technology, Audio Cu eliminates the need for wireless audio transmission methods such as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, or WISA, all of which can suffer from latency, signal degradation, and interference.
Audio Cu can send high-fidelity audio to up to 10 speakers or subwoofers in any configuration, supporting systems from a simple stereo setup (2.0) to an immersive 7.1.2 Dolby Atmos system. For more complex installations, up to 32 channels can be distributed across multiple systems, offering flexibility for larger homes. Fasetto emphasizes that Audio Cu minimizes latency, with the system operating at under 20 milliseconds of delay, ensuring seamless synchronization between audio and video.
A key advantage of Audio Cu is its user-friendly approach. The system is designed as a plug-and-play solution, meaning it requires minimal setup. Each speaker or subwoofer simply needs to be connected to a power outlet, and the Audio Cu system handles the rest. Users don’t need to worry about the complex wiring often associated with high-end audio setups, nor do they need to invest in expensive audio receivers, as the Audio Cu system decodes and transmits the audio signals on its own.
The Audio Cu system is controlled through a mobile app available for both iOS and Android devices. This app allows users to configure their audio setup, control individual speakers, and apply various digital signal processor (DSP) presets. From adjusting equalizer settings to selecting specific listening modes, users have complete control over their home audio experience.
Fasetto also highlights the environmental benefits of its Audio Cu system. Traditional audio setups often require extensive use of copper wiring, which contributes to material waste and environmental pollution. By utilizing existing power lines, Audio Cu significantly reduces the amount of copper required in home audio installations.
This reduction in materials not only lowers the carbon footprint associated with manufacturing but also cuts down on logistics and labor-related pollution. According to Fasetto, this shift represents a more sustainable approach to home audio, benefiting both consumers and the environment.
One of the main strengths of Audio Cu lies in its compatibility with a wide range of audio equipment. Any speaker equipped with traditional red and black terminals can be connected to the system, making it accessible to users who may already own high-quality speakers. This flexibility allows users to build or upgrade their home audio setup without needing to invest in an entirely new system.
Additionally, Audio Cu can be used across multiple rooms in a home. Fasetto's technology supports up to six separate transmitters, enabling multi-room configurations with up to 32 total channels. This scalability makes Audio Cu suitable for both small home theater setups and large, multi-room audio systems.
“RT-RK has been a proud early adopter and supporter of the Dolby Atmos® immersive audio format from its inception in 2012," said Dr. Miroslav Dokic, vice president of business development, RT-RK, a premier embedded software development company specializing in consumer electronics and infotainment systems.
"Recently, we worked closely with Fasetto’s exceptional engineering team, whose unique intellectual property includes delivering pristine and low-latency audio over existing power line infrastructure. The end result is AUDIO Cu, which revolutionizes the immersive audio market in so many different ways. Now, having obtained Dolby Atmos® product-level certification, AUDIO Cu is ready to hit the audio market with full force. RT-RK’s engineering team is proud to have been a partner on this exciting journey that market innovators like Fasetto are creating.”
While Fasetto has yet to announce pricing details for the Audio Cu transmitters and receivers, the product is expected to provide a more accessible and convenient alternative to traditional home audio solutions. As more consumers look for ways to simplify their home audio setups without sacrificing quality, Audio Cu has the potential to carve out a niche in the market.
It’s worth noting that Audio Cu bypasses many of the challenges faced by wireless audio systems. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, though popular, can be prone to interference and signal degradation in large homes or areas with many competing wireless devices. By transmitting audio over power lines, Audio Cu offers a more reliable connection, which could appeal to audiophiles and home theater enthusiasts who prioritize sound quality and system performance.
