Audio Research was founded in 1970 by legendary audio designer William Zane Johnson. Audio Research is one of the original high-end audio brands, pioneering vacuum tube designs and originating the concept of "High Definition" in audio, a phrase that has been its hallmark since its inception.

In addition to their sound quality, Audio Research products are famous for their consistency, longevity, and serviceability, and are viewed as collector's items throughout the world.

Notable products include the Audio Research MP1 preamp, the Audio Research VS115 amp, and the Audio Research DAC8.
