Audio-Technica, the renowned Japanese audio equipment manufacturer, has expanded its turntable lineup with the introduction of the AT-LP70xBT. This new model is positioned as a budget-friendly option, ideal for those new to the vinyl scene as well as seasoned audiophiles looking for an affordable, versatile turntable. Priced at $249, £219, or €249, the AT-LP70xBT promises to deliver quality sound and user-friendly features, making it a compelling choice for a wide range of users.
The AT-LP70xBT is a fully automatic, belt-driven turntable that supports both 33⅓ and 45 RPM records. One of its standout features is its Bluetooth capability, which allows users to stream music wirelessly to powered speakers or headphones. This functionality is enhanced by support for Qualcomm's aptX Adaptive audio codec, ensuring higher-quality wireless playback.
For those who prefer a wired setup, the turntable includes a built-in, switchable phono preamp. This feature allows the AT-LP70xBT to be connected directly to an amplifier or powered speakers using the included RCA cable, making it versatile enough to fit into various audio setups.
The turntable's design incorporates a J-shaped tonearm, which is aimed at reducing tracking errors. At the heart of the AT-LP70xBT is Audio-Technica's AT-VM95C phono cartridge, which features a 0.6 mil conical stylus. While the cartridge is not upgradable due to its integrated design, the stylus itself can be swapped out for other options from Audio-Technica's VM95 Series, including elliptical, micro linear, and Shibata styli.
The AT-LP70xBT also boasts a three-piece anti-resonance chassis designed to dampen unwanted noise and vibrations, providing a solid foundation for improved sound quality. The AT-VM95C cartridge replaces the ATN3600L used in the earlier model, offering better channel separation and lower distortion.
