Beats has been teasing the second-generation Powerbeats Pro for months, but newly leaked images may have just given us our best look yet at what’s coming. The leaks, shared on X (formerly Twitter) by prolific leaker Arsène Lupin (@MysteryLupin), showcase high-resolution images of the Powerbeats Pro 2, revealing not only their refreshed design but also potential new features.
With appearances on the ears of professional athletes and a previously confirmed 2025 launch window, it seems the new earbuds could be hitting the market sooner rather than later.
One of the most noticeable changes from the first-gen Powerbeats Pro is the more compact charging case. The original case was known for its bulk, making it less pocket-friendly compared to competing true wireless earbuds. The images suggest a significant reduction in size, which could be a welcome improvement for users looking for easier portability.
The earbuds themselves also appear more slender, with a refined shape that may offer a better fit. The physical “b” buttons seen on the original model seem to be missing, possibly replaced by a touch-sensitive surface while retaining the top-mounted buttons from the first generation.
Perhaps the biggest revelation in the leaked images is a three-position slider visible within the Beats app on an Android phone. The icons shown—depicting heads with and without halos—resemble the way Beats indicates noise cancellation modes on other ANC-equipped models like the Beats Studio Buds+ and Beats Fit Pro. If accurate, this leak confirms that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will have active noise cancellation (ANC), something its predecessor, Powerbeats Pro, lacked.
Another intriguing addition is the greyed-out heart rate icon spotted within the Beats app interface. This suggests that the new Powerbeats Pro 2 could incorporate heart rate tracking, making them more than just a workout-friendly pair of earbuds. While details remain unclear, such a feature could place them in direct competition with fitness-focused earbuds from brands like Jabra and Bose.
The leaked images also showcase the Powerbeats Pro 2 in multiple color options, including black, beige, orange, and purple. While Beats has always offered a range of colors for its products, this selection suggests a mix of neutral and vibrant choices to appeal to different user preferences.
Beyond the leaks, the Powerbeats Pro 2 have been spotted in the wild, adding further credibility to an imminent launch. Baseball star Shohei Ohtani was seen wearing the earbuds in a promotional teaser last year, but now golfers Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy have also been seen sporting them. This increased visibility could indicate that Beats is preparing for an official announcement soon.
Beats, which is owned by Apple, has already confirmed that the Powerbeats Pro 2 will arrive sometime in 2025, but an exact release date remains unknown. Given the growing number of leaks and public sightings, it’s likely that an official unveiling is just around the corner. Pricing details also remain unclear, but considering that the original Powerbeats Pro launched at $249.99, the sequel will likely be in a similar range.
With an expected combination of ANC, fitness tracking features, and a sleeker design, the Powerbeats Pro 2 could be a significant upgrade over the 2019 original. However, until Beats makes an official announcement, all details should be taken with caution. For now, fitness enthusiasts and audiophiles alike will have to wait a little longer to see exactly what the Powerbeats Pro 2 brings to the table.
