Best Buy and Macy's have announced plans to team up to sell certain consumer electronics products--including smartphones, tablets, Bluetooth speakers, and headphones--in Best Buy shops located within select Macy's department stores. Forbes reports that the shops, which will begin appearing in November, will be staffed by Best Buy employees.
From Forbes
The nation's last-standing national consumer electronics chain is joining forces with Macy's.
Best Buy has inked an agreement with the department store to test licensed consumer electronics departments in 10 Macy stores, slated to open in November 2015. Best Buy licensed shops will occupy about 300 square feet in Macy's stores across various markets throughout the U.S.
Best Buy employees will staff the space, featuring Samsung smartphones, tablets and smart watches, as well as audio devices like Bluetooth speakers and headphones) and accessories including cases, chargers from Samsung and other brands.
The departments mark Macy's return to the consumer electronics business, a product category it has largely abdicated, save for dabbling in and out of it throughout the years.
