TCL has unveiled a series of new QD-Mini LED TVs, marked by advanced features and impressive specifications. The announcement was made during TCL's 2023 Global Flagship launch event on August 29. The new lineup boasts several models, with the flagship being the TCL X955. The tech giant's latest offerings also include the high-end C955, and the entry-level C755 (also known as C805 in Europe), all showcasing advancements in mini-LED backlighting technology.

At the forefront of the new lineup stands the TCL X955, available in both 85 and 98-inch sizes. While the vast screen real estate is striking, it's the technological prowess that truly grabs attention. The X955 features an astounding 5,148 local dimming zones, a technological achievement that promises enhanced control over darks and colors. This is complemented by a staggering 5,000 nits of peak HDR brightness.

For context, the Samsung QN95C, renowned for its brightness, achieves just over 2,000 nits. This puts the X955 in a league of its own, with its output surpassing even Samsung's 2022 8K mini-LED models. The X955 is also armed with a 4.2.2 channel speaker system, a collaboration with Onkyo, delivering 160W of power and Dolby Atmos sound. Additionally, the TV offers features like 144Hz VRR, Dolby Vision, and AMD Freesync Premium Pro gaming capabilities.

In the lineup, the TCL C955 shines as a strong contender. While not reaching the brightness heights of the X955, the C955 holds its own with 2,000 local dimming zones and 2,000 nits peak brightness. This positions it favorably against other offerings in the market. The C955 is equipped with a 2.2.2 speaker configuration, powered by Onkyo, and supporting Dolby Atmos compatibility with 120W of output. Gaming enthusiasts will appreciate the inclusion of the same gaming features as the flagship X955.

The versatility of the C955 is underscored by its availability in a range of sizes, from 65 to 98 inches. While its brightness may not be on par with the X955, the comprehensive feature set ensures it remains competitive within the mini-LED landscape.

The C755, known as C805 in Europe, rounds out the lineup as an entry-level mini-LED TV. Available in various sizes, from 50 to 98 inches, the C755 maintains a respectable peak brightness of around 1,300 nits. 

While not matching the brightness achievements of its siblings, the C755 delivers a compelling gaming experience with features shared across the lineup. This model's wide array of sizes aims to cater to different market segments, though competition from other brands is expected, particularly in the smaller size range.

The introduction of TCL's QD-Mini LED TV lineup signals a significant advancement in television technology, particularly in terms of local dimming zones and peak brightness. The X955's unmatched specifications place it at the forefront of the competition, challenging established players like Samsung and Hisense.

In addition to the impressive features, all three models—X955, C955, and C755—benefit from being IMAX Enhanced, promising an optimal viewing experience with IMAX enhanced sources. While the pricing details are yet to be revealed, TCL's new lineup is expected to present a compelling value proposition in comparison to other giants in the TV industry.
