Compact Disc players, or CD players, are stand-alone source components that play audio CDs. Though once common, they are rarely found outside of the high-end audiophile space.

Today, DVD and Blu-ray players have replaced the stand-alone CD player as the main disc playback device.

With most music these days arriving via streaming or a computer, sources like USB DACs are more common in the audiophile space. Some high-end companies still make CD players, with either internal or external DACs.

Many SACD players doubled as high-end CD players.
