Definitive-Demand.jpgAt last week's CEDIA Expo, Definitive Technology showed off a new bookshelf speaker line. The Demand Series, which will replace the Studio Monitor Series, consists of three models: the D7 ($499/pair), D9 ($749/pair), and D11 ($999/pair). All three speakers use a one-inch aluminum dome tweeter coupled with a 20/20 Wave Alignment Lens, as well as a patented Balanced Double Surround System (BDSS) midrange/woofer, ranging in size from 4.5 to 6.5 inches depending on model. The speaker has an aluminum baffle painted with five layers of premium black gloss paint, and it comes with a magnetic black grille. The Demand Series will be available this month.

Definitive Technology
Definitive Technology has announced the Demand Series High-Performance Bookshelf Speakers, a reimagined take on the company's celebrated Studio Monitor range. Comprised of three new solutions--Demand D11, Demand D9, and Demand D7--each beautifully designed monitor delivers an unrivaled sweet spot, smoother high-frequency reproduction and three-dimensional imaging for a superior listening experience.

"Definitive Technology is consistently innovating to meet or exceed the music enthusiast's demands, especially in regards to accurate imaging, unfettered dynamic range and an engaging soundstage. Replacing iconic speakers increases the challenge for our engineers, and these beautifully crafted bookshelf speakers continue to elevate the technology innovation Definitive Technology is known for," said Skylar Gray, global brand director at Definitive Technology. "We're confident the Demand Series' array of proprietary technologies like the 20/20 Wave Alignment Lens, BDSS and Linear Response Waveguide will deliver some of the smoothest, highly accurate and rich reproduction of any monitor on the market at this level--all while exuding our hallmark minimalist execution that listeners will be proud to display."

Leveraging a host of new technologies, the Demand Series Speakers feature an annealed 1-inch aluminum dome tweeter, which is laterally offset by 5 degrees and coupled with a 20/20 Wave Alignment Lens. This allows for more precise center stereo imaging by eliminating undesirable symmetric diffraction from the corners of the front baffle, resulting in a rich and balanced listening experience. Definitive Technology's patented Balanced Double Surround System (BDSS) midrange/woofer promotes greater excursion and delivers superior midrange detail and punchier bass in comparison to competing drivers of a similar size. In addition, a linear response waveguide extends both on- and off-axis frequency response while improving dispersion for more natural midrange timbre and precise imaging.

In staying true to Definitive Technology's class-leading industrial design, the Demand Series boasts an incredibly clean, modern look with a substantial bead-blasted aluminum baffle that exudes timelessness and effortlessly blends into any de?cor. With artisan-quality details, each cabinet is meticulously sanded, painted with five layers of premium black gloss paint and buffed to a near-mirror (Level 6) finish, resulting in a harmony of understated sophistication and uncompromising quality. Each monitor's acoustically transparent magnetic black grille provides natural, uncolored sound and can be easily removed for when the speaker is meant to be shown off.

The Demand D11, D9 and D7 speakers boast a patented 6.5-inch, 5.25-inch and 4.5-inch mineral-polymer BDSS midrange/woofer, respectively, for superior midrange detail and punchy bass. In addition, the Demand D11 and D9 speakers offer passive bass radiators for deep, tight and clean bass response, while the D7 speaker offers a bass port that extends impact while ensuring turbulence and distortion are minimized. Optional high-performance ST1 speaker stands can be purchased separately and ensure that speaker height is optimized at 32 inches for a premium soundstage. The Demand D7 speaker is also outfitted with threaded inserts on the rear for secure and clean wall-mounting.

The new Definitive Technology Demand Series will be available for purchase mid-September 2017 at national retailers including Magnolia inside Best Buy, Crutchfield and other fine retailers nationwide and regionally. Pricing for the Demand Series includes, D7: $499, D9: $749, D11: $999, and Demand ST1 (stand): $399.
