Dirac Adds Auto Curve for Consumer Calibrations

What's Dirac got up its sleeve? An easy way for AVR owners to get optimal sound.

Dirac Adds Auto Curve for Consumer Calibrations

When you consider the profound impact that the room has on the audio response from any system, the need for room correction becomes obvious. This is even the case when you have optionally placed speakers and acoustical treatments.

The sophistication of today's room correction solutions such as Dirac Live makes it easy to extract maximum performance from a surround sound system.

Now you can take your music listening experience to a higher plane with Dirac Live room correction! This innovative technology automatically adjusts the sound curve with the new Auto Curve function, ensuring that you get the most accurate and enjoyable playback possible.

Whether you're a casual listener or an audiophile enthusiast, Dirac Live will make your music, movies, video games, and anything else you listen to through a properly calibrated system sound better than ever before.

Many of the first uses of Dirac Live—more than a decade ago—were in cinemas or high-end home theaters, where experts calibrated and tuned sound systems using Dirac Live. But that's no longer the case. With more mass-market AVRs now offering our breakthrough solution, Dirac Live has gone mainstream. However, when addressing this new, larger audience, it became clear that attaining the optimal sound experience should be as easy as possible. Our new auto target curve eliminates the need for manual adjustments, allowing new users to sit back and enjoy superior sound.

Jakob Ågren, Head of Product Management at Dirac

Once Dirac Live generates the automatic curve, of course, it is possible for users to perform manual adjustments on the resulting curve and customize the sound to their liking.

To use this new feature, you can currently access it through the Dirac Live mobile app. The company plans to add this functionality to the desktop software later this year, but the app update is available now.

As for compatibility, if you have a NAD, Onkyo, Pioneer, Integra, or Pioneer Elite—either an AV receiver or AV processor that supports the Dirac Live app—it'll work with this update.
