New week, new FiiO product, as the Chinese company has introduced its latest flagship in-ear monitors (IEMs), the FiiO FH19. These hybrid IEMs are designed with custom-built drivers and advanced engineering, aiming to compete with top-tier models from well-established brands like Sennheiser and Shure. The FH19 offers customizable sound profiles, making it a versatile choice for audiophiles seeking a tailored listening experience.
The FiiO FH19 showcases a semi-open design combined with FiiO's cavity pressure relief technology, which aims to deliver a natural and relaxed sound with a wide, open soundstage. The mid-frame of the IEMs is constructed from titanium, while the shell is made from aerospace-grade 7000 series aluminum, ensuring both strength and lightweight properties.
The internal components of the FH19 include a combination of two dynamic and six balanced armature drivers. Specifically, FiiO has developed a new dual dynamic driver unit in collaboration with Tokyo Onkyo Co. Ltd. in Japan.
These drivers, which handle the bass frequencies, employ PU+DLC composite diaphragms arranged in an opposing configuration. This design is intended to enhance low-frequency extension, speed, and cohesion.
For mid-to-high frequencies, the FiiO FH19 utilizes customized Knowles balanced armature drivers. The midrange drivers are designed to produce a rich musical sound without compromising detail, while the high-frequency drivers cover an extensive range from 8Hz to 40kHz. The IEMs boast a sensitivity of 109dB/mW@1kHz and an impedance of 16Ω @ 1kHz.
One of the main features of the FiiO FH19 is its suspended voice coil design. In this configuration, the coil leads are routed directly from the center hole under the diaphragm, which eliminates unnecessary contact and reduces adhesive load. This approach is intended to improve driver performance and reduce distortion.
The FH19 also incorporates Rubycon film crossover capacitors with an error tolerance of just 0.1 percent. These capacitors aim to achieve more accurate crossover points, enhancing the overall sound quality. Additionally, FiiO's sound wave guidance structure is designed to provide greater bass depth and quality.
FiiO has equipped the FH19 with three pairs of swappable audio filters, each offering different levels of internal damping and mesh density. These filters allow users to customize the audio profile according to their preferences:
The FH19 comes with a high-purity silver cable, which consists of eight strands of 28 wires each, totaling 224 wires. Each wire is independently insulated and twisted using a Litz structure. The cable sheath is made from transparent TPU, which helps prevent yellowing and stiffening over time.
To provide compatibility with a wide range of audio devices, the FH19 includes two twist-lock swappable jack plugs: one 3.5mm single-ended and one 4.4mm balanced. Additionally, the IEMs are supplied with an impressive 22 pairs of eartips in various sizes and materials, including SpinFit, foam, balanced, and dual flange options. This extensive selection is designed to provide the perfect fit for every user.
