Compact speakers often struggle to produce deep, satisfying bass, but Triangle’s BR04 is here to change that. As an evolution of the BR03, this new bookshelf speaker boasts a larger cabinet and a redesigned front-firing bass port to enhance low-end response while maintaining a sleek, modern look. Priced at $559 per pair on Amazon, the BR04 offers a versatile audio solution for both music lovers and home theater enthusiasts.
The BR04 sticks with Triangle’s signature style, offering six different finishes—Black, Chestnut, Light Oak, Oak Green, Light Oak Blue, and White—so they’ll blend into just about any room. The magnetic fabric grilles keep things looking clean while offering some protection for the drivers.
One of the biggest changes from the BR03 is the larger cabinet size, which helps extend the bass response. Triangle has also moved the bass-reflex port to the front instead of the back. That might sound like a small tweak, but it makes a big difference. With a front port, you can place the speakers closer to a wall without affecting the sound too much—great if you're tight on space or don’t want to worry about speaker placement.
At the heart of the BR04 is a two-way driver system. The 25mm silk dome tweeter uses Triangle’s EFS (Efficient Flow System) waveguide, which helps spread the sound evenly across the room for a smooth, detailed treble.
The 16cm cellulose pulp bass-midrange driver has also been reworked to reduce distortion and keep vocals sounding warm and natural, even at higher volumes. That’s especially important if you like listening to music with a lot of dynamics, from delicate acoustic tracks to bass-heavy hip-hop.
Then there’s the front-facing bass-reflex port—another smart update. By optimizing airflow, Triangle has improved bass depth while keeping the low end controlled and natural. So, instead of just adding more bass, the BR04 aims to deliver cleaner, more accurate low frequencies.
With a frequency range of 44Hz to 22kHz, the BR04 is built to handle deep bass while keeping the highs crisp. The 90dB sensitivity rating also means they don’t need a ton of power to get loud, making them a good match for a variety of amplifiers.
For those who like to fine-tune their audio setup, the BR04 includes double binding posts and a redesigned crossover. This setup allows for bi-wiring or bi-amplification, which means you can separate the power sent to the tweeter and woofer for potentially better clarity and control—especially in more advanced hi-fi systems.
Because of their compact bookshelf design, the BR04 speakers work well on dedicated stands, bookshelves, or media units. And thanks to that front bass-reflex port, you won’t have to stress about keeping them too far from walls.
Triangle has also included dual-function rubber pads, which do two things: they dampen vibrations and keep the speakers stable on stands. That’s a small but useful detail that helps reduce unwanted resonances and improve overall clarity.
