Fyne Audio has officially rolled out the F704SP, a new addition to its Special Production lineup that’s set to lead the company’s F700SP range. Set to debut at the High End Munich 2025 show, this new floorstanding speaker builds on the foundation of the original F704 but adds several upgrades inspired by Fyne’s higher-end F1 Series.
Hand-built in the UK at Fyne’s new Scottish manufacturing facility, the F704SP keeps the size and shape of its predecessor but updates much of the internal design. The result is a speaker that looks familiar on the outside but promises a fresh take on performance inside.
At the center of the F704SP is Fyne’s 12-inch IsoFlare driver. It’s a point-source design, meaning the tweeter and the mid/bass driver are physically aligned to act as one source of sound. That setup helps with imaging and timing, aiming to create a more natural and cohesive listening experience.
Specifically, the driver combines a lightweight multi-fiber cone for bass and mids with a 3-inch titanium dome tweeter sitting right in the middle. Each part has its own motor system: a neodymium magnet for the tweeter, which helps reduce distortion, and a ferrite magnet for the bass/mid cone, which provides more control over low-end performance.
And just in case one big driver isn’t enough, there’s a second 12-inch bass driver below it, designed to help extend the low-frequency range and push out more sound with less effort. Together, these two drivers give the F704SP a frequency range that goes all the way down to 22Hz, along with a high sensitivity rating of 96dB/W and up to 600 watts of peak power handling.
The F704SP’s enclosure isn’t just there to house the drivers—it plays a key role in the speaker’s performance. Built from high-density birch plywood and reinforced with internal bracing, the cabinet is designed to minimize unwanted vibrations.
One unique feature is Fyne’s twin cavity loading system, which separates the cabinet into upper and lower chambers. This setup helps manage internal air pressure and keeps the sound cleaner. Bass exits through a downward-firing port and is spread evenly around the room using the company’s BassTrax Tractrix diffuser—a system designed to create a 360-degree low-frequency wavefront.
The base of the speaker features a redesigned plinth borrowed from Fyne’s top-tier F1-12S model. It’s made from layered aluminum and shaped to guide bass energy outward, helping to clean up the low end. Adjustable metal cone feet let users fine-tune the height and leveling with minimal hassle.
Each speaker weighs in at just over 71 kilograms (or about 158 pounds), which isn’t exactly light, but that mass contributes to the speaker’s overall stability and performance.
Fyne didn’t just upgrade the drivers and cabinet—it also gave the internal electronics some attention. The F704SP’s crossover network, which manages how frequencies are divided between the drivers, has been completely redesigned using both computer simulations and real-world listening tests.
The new crossover uses high-grade components, including ClarityCap polypropylene capacitors and Vishay military-grade resistors in the high-frequency path. The entire assembly also undergoes a cryogenic treatment process—essentially freezing the components under controlled conditions to reduce internal stresses. This is meant to improve long-term consistency and performance.
To ensure signal clarity from amp to driver, Fyne uses Neotech PC-OCC wiring inside the cabinet. On the back, gold-plated WBT Nextgen binding posts handle the external connections.
The F704SP is available in several finishes. You’ll still find the piano gloss black, white, and walnut options from the original F704, but the new model adds a real wood walnut veneer finished with a soft satin sheen. It’s a less flashy option that highlights the natural grain of the wood for a more classic look.
Pricing is set at $25,999.99 / £19,999.99 / €23,999.99 per pair, and the speakers are available now through authorized Fyne dealers.
