GET-SuperSubX.jpgGoldenEar Technology has announced that its SuperSub X subwoofer, first introduced back at CES, is now officially shipping. The SuperSub X (and its big brother, the SuperSub XXL) employs GoldenEar's patented Dual-Plane Inertially Balanced technology to more effectively move the air and distribute the bass response evenly around the room. The SuperSub X houses two eight-inch long-throw drivers in the horizontal plane and two 10.5- x 9.5-inch planar infrasonic radiators in the vertical plane, driven by a 1,400-watt amp. Roughly a 12.5-inch cube, the SuperSub X features a glossy, piano-black lacquer finish and sells for $1,249.

From GoldenEar
GoldenEar's new SuperSub X is a smaller version of the award winning SuperSub XXL. It also incorporates GoldenEar's unique and patented Dual-Plane Inertially Balanced Technology. This force-cancelling inertial balancing preserves, conserves and focuses all the energy produced by the transducers in order to more effectively move the air in the room (rather than vibrating and shaking the cabinet). Also, because there are four radiating surfaces that are separated in space, the driver-to-room coupling and bass response is distributed much more smoothly.

The SuperSub X is housed in a beautifully styled, luxuriously finished, ultra-compact (basically just a 12.5" cube!) gloss piano black lacquer cabinet, which contains two long-throw 8" drivers, two 10-1/2" x 9-1/2" quadratic planar infrasonic radiators, a 1400-watt ForceField Digital Amplifier and a 56-bit DSP device, controlling multiple performance parameters. There is a precision level control, a 12 dB/octave low pass control, continuously variable from 40Hz-200Hz, for two stereo RCA inputs, and a switch to select the direct-coupled, unfiltered LFE input. Overall frequency response is 12Hz-200Hz.

This advanced technology results in absolutely the finest sounding ultra-compact subwoofer ever produced; clearly the holy grail: combining superb musicality with extreme extension and room-shaking impact. GoldenEar has been awarded a US Patent for its breakthrough Dual-Plane Inertially Balanced Technology. The SuperSub X is now shipping. The U.S. retail price is $1,249 each.
