IOGEAR has announced the launch of its new HDMI Over Powerline PRO solution, an expandable plug-and-play solution that enables users to distribute high-definition video over long distances using a home or office's existing electrical wiring.

The HDMI Over Powerline PRO solution eliminates the need for unsightly, costly HDMI cable runs over long distances between HDMI sources and displays by enabling users to transmit high-definition video and audio over existing power outlets. Users simply connect an HDMI source to the transmitter, and connect the receiver to an HDMI-equipped HDTV, monitor or projector. With both the transmitter and receiver plugged into power outlets on the same power phase, content from Blu-ray players, set-top boxes, or PCs at resolutions up to 1080p can be transmitted over distances up to 984 feet.

The HDMI Over Powerline PRO Solution is available in the following kits:

GPLHDPROK HDMI Over Powerline PRO Kit (MSRP $399.95);
GPLHDPROK2 HDMI Over Powerline PRO Kit with One Additional Receiver (MSRP $599.95);
GPLHDPROK3 HDMI Over Powerline PRO Kit with Two Additional Receivers (MSRP $769.95);
GPLHDPROK4 HDMI Over Powerline PRO Kit with Three Additional Receivers (MSRP $949.95).
Additional receivers (GPLHDRX) can also be purchased separately at an MSRP of $199.95.

The flexible and expandable HDMI Over Powerline solution supports up to four receivers enabling users to distribute HD video to multiple displays. Ideal for home entertainment and SOHO environments where Wi-Fi connectivity is an issue, or where running HDMI cables would be costly or impractical, the HDMI Over Powerline solution includes infrared pass-through enabling users to control the media source from any area of the home or office.

"For homes and SOHO organizations that need to reliably stream high-definition content from a single source to one or even multiple displays located in other areas around the building, the options are limited," explained Alan Sung, Product Manager at IOGEAR. "This new HDMI Over Powerline solution eliminates the need for costly, unsightly HDMI cables and offers a reliable alternative to Wi-Fi technology by allowing users to easily transmit high-definition video and audio signals over their existing electrical wiring. The solution provides significant cost savings for homes and small businesses by eliminating the need to run cables to multiple rooms throughout the home or office."

The HDMI Over Powerline Solution carries a limited one-year warranty.
