From PR Newswire

LG Electronics today launched its third-generation Ultra HD 4K LED TV line-up: seven screen sizes in three model series, representing one of the most comprehensive on the market. LG's new UB9800, UB9500 and UB8500 series Ultra HD TVs* - with four times the resolution of 1080p Full HD - are being demonstrated at CE Week (Booth 61).

"LG is serious about making Ultra HD TVs a reality for consumers now. That's why our new lineup offers a broad variety of series, class sizes and prices," said David VanderWaal, head of marketing for LG Electronics USA, named the Official Ultra HDTV of CE Week. "With a Smart TV platform as simple and robust as webOS™ and IPS panels that deliver ultra wide viewing angles, LG's Ultra HD TVs have the most comprehensive features available to American consumers."

LG's 2014 models exceed the Consumer Electronics Association's new characteristics for "Connected Ultra HDTVs," and are designed to handle 4K content from streaming services such as Netflix. In an exclusive promotion, consumers purchasing a qualifying LG Ultra HD 4K TV by August 16 will receive a 12-month subscription to Netflix, compliments of LG.**

The Future of Display Technology Has Arrived

Ultra High-Definition Television represents the next level in picture detail for large-screen HDTVs. With LG Ultra HD 4K displays, consumers will have the sharpest, life-like picture available and a much needed detail boost for today's larger TVs. Each new model features LG's Tru-4K Engine Pro, which uses a multistep process to upscale regular HD content for a near-UHD experience on these 8-million-pixel displays.

To display native 4K content in its full glory, they incorporate new technology standards - such as the latest HDMI interface and H.265 decoding -that will handle Ultra HD programming whether it's streamed over the Internet or playing from a USB or HDMI source. With these technologies on board, consumers will have an Ultra HD TV that will be ready to accept new 4K content as it becomes available.

Another key differentiator for LG's 2014 Ultra HD TVs are their advanced LED/LCD panels using IPS (in plane switching) technology to reproduce accurate colors. Equally significant, LG IPS panels provide and ultra wide viewing angle with less risk of color distortion or loss of contrast.

A Smarter Platform for a Smarter TV

For 2014, LG Ultra HD TVs feature the Smart TV+ webOS ™ platform which features an intuitive user interface - a refreshingly intuitive interface that makes it easier to find and transition between content options. With webOS™, live TV, streaming services and previously viewed content are all accessible via one click on its "launcher bar" menu. The platform also includes recommendation capabilities to help consumers sift through its expansive content options, which include streaming services like Netflix, YouTube, Amazon Instant Video and Hulu Plus and more.
