In the run-up to CES 2024, LG has unveiled its latest addition to the CineBeam projector series, the LG CineBeam Qube (model HU710PB). This compact and stylish projector is designed with an emphasis on portability and ease of use, making it an intriguing addition to the world of home entertainment technology.
The CineBeam Qube is named for its distinctive design, though it doesn't quite resemble a cube as the name might suggest. Instead, it stands vertically and appears more like a compact bookshelf speaker. This unique design choice is intended to cater to a younger, more casual, and lifestyle-oriented user base.
Measuring just 80mm in width, 134mm in depth, and 135mm in height, with a weight of 1.49kg, the Qube is incredibly portable and easy to handle. The built-in 360-degree rotatable handle adds to its convenience, allowing users to carry it effortlessly from room to room.
One of the standout features of the LG CineBeam Qube is its use of an RGB laser light source. This innovative technology enables the projector to deliver an impressive 154% coverage of the digital cinema DCI-P3 color gamut. Moreover, the laser light source eliminates the need for regular bulb replacements, a common concern with lamp-based projectors.
The Qube boasts a peak brightness of 500 lumens, which is quite remarkable for a portable projector, and it supports a flexible range of image sizes, from 50 to 120 inches. LG claims an impressive contrast ratio of 450,000:1, suggesting the potential for deep blacks and realistic colors.
The Qube incorporates an Auto Screen Adjustment system, ensuring that focus and geometry errors are automatically corrected. This feature enhances the projector's "plug and play" functionality, a vital attribute for a device meant to be transported easily from place to place.
In terms of connectivity, the LG CineBeam Qube offers an HDMI port with eARC support for external devices, a USB Type-C port, and wireless compatibility with both Android and iOS devices. It claims 4K video support and HDR10 compatibility, promising an enhanced visual experience.
LG's webOS 6.0 smart TV system is built into the Qube, offering seamless access to popular streaming apps like Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video, and YouTube. Additionally, users can use the projector to display digital images, adding an ambient effect to their living space when not in use.
“Great for spaces large and small, LG CineBeam Qube is a unique lifestyle projector possessing all the qualities consumers look for when choosing a new projection solution,” said YS Lee, vice president and head of the IT business unit of LG Electronics Business Solutions Company.
“LG’s upgraded projector lineup offers a range of lifestyle-enriching devices that present outstanding spatial integration and versatility as well as immersive, cinematic viewing experiences.”
While LG has not yet disclosed pricing or a formal launch date for the CineBeam Qube, the projector will be showcased at CES 2024, where we will learn more details about the product's availability and cost. Stay tuned for updates as CES 2024 approaches and more information becomes available on this intriguing projector.
