LG is rolling out its 2025 OLED TV lineup, with the G5 and C5 series set to hit stores in March. These two models continue LG’s OLED legacy, bringing updates to panel design, AI-powered features, and overall display performance. Whether you're looking for the high-end brightness of the G5 or the more affordable AI-driven upgrades of the C5, there's plenty to break down.
If you're after the brightest OLED TV LG has ever made, the G5 OLED might be the one to watch. This year, LG has ditched the old three-layer OLED panel and moved to a four-layer structure, with separate layers for red, green, and two for blue.
That change, along with LG’s Brightness Booster Ultimate technology, results in a 45% increase in brightness compared to last year’s G4. This boost isn’t just for peak highlights—it extends to full-screen brightness too.
For reference, the G4 topped out around 1,500 nits, so the G5 could push past 2,000 nits, making it one of the brightest OLEDs on the market. To prove it, LG set up side-by-side comparisons with last year’s G4 and competing OLED models, showing just how much brighter the G5 is.
Beyond brightness, gamers might have something to get excited about. The G5 supports up to a 165Hz refresh rate, along with VRR, NVIDIA G-SYNC, and AMD FreeSync Premium, making it a strong choice for fast-paced gaming.
LG is also highlighting two UL Solutions certifications:
Another new addition is Filmmaker Mode with Ambient Light Compensation, which tweaks picture settings based on the brightness of your room while keeping the original intent of movies intact.
Here’s how pricing looks for the G5 OLED lineup:
Unlike last year’s model, all sizes of the G5 will come with a wall mount but no table stand. If you want a stand, you’ll have to buy it separately, though finding them in stock at retailers might be a challenge.
The C5 OLED is a step below the G5, but it still packs a solid mix of improvements. The biggest upgrade is LG’s Alpha 9 AI Processor Gen 8, which uses more advanced AI upscaling to clean up sub-4K content, making it look sharper and more detailed.
LG has also added a few new AI-driven features:
Unlike the G5, the C5 doesn’t come with a wall mount by default, but LG is offering free mounting or stand setup for early buyers.
Here’s the C5 OLED pricing:
One surprise with this year’s release is pricing stability. Despite expectations of price hikes due to inflation, the G5 and C5 are launching at the same or lower prices than their 2024 predecessors.
LG is also bundling in some early buyer perks. If you purchase a G5 or C5 OLED through LG’s website before March 30, you’ll get:
The soundbar promotion runs until April 6, 2025.
