McIntosh, a pioneer in high-end audio equipment, is ringing in its 75th anniversary with a powerful statement in the world of audio amplification. The company has unveiled its latest creation, the MC2.1KW Monoblock Power Amplifier, designed to redefine the two-channel home audio experience.
The MC2.1KW Monoblock Power Amplifier boasts an impressive capability, delivering a remarkable 2,000 Watts of pristine McIntosh power. This tri-chassis marvel not only represents a technological achievement but also pays homage to McIntosh's legacy as a leader in sound reproduction.
As a tribute to this milestone, the first 75 pairs of MC2.1KW amplifiers sold in 2024 in each country where McIntosh is distributed will feature special anniversary badging, transforming them into collector's items for loyal McIntosh enthusiasts.
Charlie Randall, President of McIntosh, expressed his enthusiasm for the MC2.1KW's launch, stating, "A result of McIntosh’s 75 years as the leader of sound reproduction, the MC2.1KW is the pinnacle of audio amplification and a testament to the brand’s unwavering commitment to sonic perfection.
The perfect product to commemorate McIntosh’s 75th anniversary, the MC2.1KW is the embodiment of our passion, and it invites audio enthusiasts to embark on an extraordinary journey through sound with one of our most powerful amplifiers yet."
The MC2.1KW Monoblock Power Amplifier achieves its extraordinary sound quality through a combination of three separate modules. These modules consist of an Output Module housing McIntosh's renowned bi-filar wound Autoformer and two Power Modules, each containing a 1,000-Watt amplifier.
The key to its versatility lies in McIntosh's Autoformer, which can output the full 2,000 Watts of power into speakers with impedances of 2, 4, or 8 Ohms. This feature makes the MC2.1KW ideal for power-hungry loudspeakers, large rooms, or audio enthusiasts seeking state-of-the-art home audio amplification.
As part of the 75th-anniversary celebration, McIntosh will also offer optional anniversary badging for four existing products in 2024: the MC1.25KW Amplifier, C12000 Preamplifier, MA12000 Integrated Amplifier, and MCD12000 SACD/CD Player. Notably, the anniversary edition of the C12000 will be limited to just 75 units per country.
The MC2.1KW Monoblock Power Amplifier is not just a sonic powerhouse but also a visual masterpiece. Its stainless steel chassis, polished to a gleaming mirrored finish, and impeccable metal casework create a luxurious and timeless design. The amplifier features black glass front panels, illuminated logos, rotary knobs, aluminum handles, and a responsive blue Watt meter, making it a true work of art.
Building upon the foundation laid by the MC2KW's introduction in 2005, the MC2.1KW brings several sonic upgrades to the table. Notable improvements include substantially larger filter capacitors that enhance low-end frequencies and significantly increase dynamic headroom.
The amplifier also features patented Solid Cinch speaker binding posts, offering connections for 2 Ohms, 4 Ohms, and 8 Ohms on separate platforms, facilitating bi- or tri-wiring of the loudspeakers.
Each Power Module of the MC2.1KW boasts four McIntosh Monogrammed Heatsinks, ensuring efficient heat dissipation and maintaining audio quality consistency.
Furthermore, the dual sets of balanced and unbalanced inputs provide system flexibility, enabling users to connect to multiple preamplifiers and seamlessly switch between vacuum tube and solid-state signals.
Additional upgrades include enhanced circuit designs with modern components, shorter signal paths, bayonet IP68-rated interconnect cables linking the three modules, and direct LED front panel lighting.
McIntosh's proprietary technologies, such as Power Guard, Sentry Monitor, Quad Balanced Design, and Power Control, further enhance the amplifier's performance and reliability.
Audio enthusiasts can look forward to the MC2.1KW Monoblock Power Amplifier's availability through authorized McIntosh dealers starting in February 2024, with a retail price of $50,000. For those seeking an exclusive demonstration, visits can be arranged at the House of Sound in New York City or the McIntosh factory in Binghamton, NY.
