Audio Gear Group, formerly called OSD Audio, will distribute M&K Sound products through specialty audio distributors, retailers, custom integrators, and directly through the MKSoundUS.com website. Audio Gear Geoup also operates the direct-to-consumer website OutdoorSpeakerDepot.com.

From Audio Gear Group
Audio Gear Group, a manufacturer and distributor of custom installation specialty products, announced it has been chosen by M&K Sound of Denmark to distribute legendary M&K brand consumer and professional loudspeakers in the United States. Audio Gear Group, owned by entrepreneur Dave Chai, operates OutdoorSpeakerDepot.com, a direct to consumer purveyor of outdoor and indoor loudspeakers, electronics and accessories, recently launched (2015) Black by Optimal Speaker Design, a dealer/distributor-only brand of ultra-performance custom installation products, and now M&K Sound USA.

Audio Gear Group intends to distribute M&K Sound products through a network of specialty audio distributors, retailers and custom integrators as well as sell directly to consumers through the MKsoundUS.com website. "Several successful brands have shown that B-to-C sales can be complementary to and in fact supportive of dealer sales efforts," said Audio Gear Group President Dave Chai. "If a brand's direct sales effort is non-predatory and carefully managed it can reinforce the brand story and help our channel partners be more successful with the M&K brand."

Audio Gear Group sales and marketing VP Jack Travis will head up M&K Sound US sales efforts. Travis hopes to gain efficiency and sales synergy by utilizing the existing network of Audio Gear Group Reps and distributors whenever possible. Travis will be supported by David Short who has been selling and marketing M&K Sound for the past two years with the previous US distributor. The brand plans an aggressive marketing effort centered on social media to raise brand visibility and take advantage of the high regard for the brand held by professionals, celebrities and audio enthusiasts throughout the United States.

"The team at M&K Sound is very excited to form this alliance with Audio Gear Group. M&K Sound is a unique and well-established brand with a very strong, historical position in the USA market and we look forward to collaborating with their team of experienced professionals. We strongly feel that our mutual understanding of 'the importance of sound' and to offer best-in-class service provides the base for a long-term relationship which will strengthen and increase our presence in the US market." said M&K Sound President Lars Johansen. "Dave Chai and the Audio Gear team will bring extremely high levels of energy, professionalism and marketing skill to the party."

M&K gained fame in the 1970s through its groundbreaking audio innovations such as the satellite/subwoofer three-piece speaker concept (David & Goliath) and the world's first internally powered subwoofer (Volkswoofer Servo). M&K Sound speakers are widely used in professional audio circles including for the development and demonstration of the groundbreaking Dolby Digital cinema and home surround format, for the first public demonstration of the high-resolution Blu-ray disc format, for sound production on Star Wars Episodes I-III and countless other award-winning music, film and TV productions.
A Who's Who of the professional audio world - film, music, mastering and broadcast studios - continue to entrust their livelihood to M&K Sound reference monitors and powered subwoofers, including 20th Century Fox, Dolby Laboratories, DreamWorks SKG, Lucasfilm LTD, Skywalker Sound, Walt Disney Studios and more.

The company was founded in 1973, when Walter Becker of Steely Dan commissioned M&K Sound to design a studio reference subwoofer and monitoring system for the Pretzel Logic LP mixing sessions. The result was the world's first balanced dual-drive subwoofer, and Pretzel Logic went on to become a million-selling Top Ten hit and one of Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
