Musical Fidelity has introduced the M6xTT, a turntable that brings high-end design and engineering to a more compact and affordable form. As a follow-up to the flagship M8xTT, released in 2023, the M6xTT seeks to deliver the same core performance philosophy in a smaller, more accessible package, making it a compelling option for audiophiles with limited space or budgets.
The M6xTT borrows heavily from the design DNA of the M8xTT, including its multi-acrylic plinth construction. This dual-layer plinth is crafted from non-resonant acrylic and designed to isolate the tonearm and bearing assembly from the motor, minimizing unwanted vibrations. The motor is mounted on the lower plinth and decoupled using a specialized foam material, further reducing resonance.
Adding to its stability, the M6xTT is supported by four height-adjustable magnetic feet made from aluminum and damped with thermoplastic elastomer (TPE). These feet ensure that the turntable remains level and securely anchored, even in challenging listening environments.
At the heart of the M6xTT is a motor featuring a sophisticated DC-driven AC generator. This generator creates frequency and voltage internally, providing consistent rotation speeds of 33 and 45 RPM. The speed can be changed conveniently via a push-button control, offering a seamless user experience.
The motor connects to a high-mass, 6.6kg aluminum platter via a one-piece drive belt with no glued joints. The platter is damped with TPE, a material chosen for its ability to improve rotational stability and minimize vibrations. These features should collectively contribute to the turntable's precise and reliable performance.
The M6xTT is equipped with a specially designed 9-inch tonearm, crafted to optimize performance while maintaining a low-resonance profile. The tonearm features a conical aluminum tube paired with an acrylic bearing ring and is fully adjustable for azimuth and vertical tracking angle (VTA). Two TPE-damped counterweights are included to accommodate a wide range of cartridges, enhancing its versatility.
The tonearm is connected to the phono stage via a standard 5P DIN cable, which allows users to upgrade cables if desired. This modularity adds a layer of customization for those looking to tailor their audio setup.
Each M6xTT comes with a leather platter mat, a heavy aluminum record puck, and a semi-balanced 5P-to-RCA interconnect cable. While the turntable does not include a cartridge, its adjustable tonearm makes it compatible with a variety of options. A clear acrylic dust cover is available as an additional accessory.

For added flexibility, the M6xTT can be purchased with or without a pre-mounted tonearm. The model with the tonearm is priced at $5,299 ($4,299 without the tonearm), making it a more accessible option compared to the $$10,499 with the tonearm ($8,399 no tonearm) price tag of its larger sibling, the M8xTT. The M6xTT turntable will be available in the US in February 2025.
