Next Apple TV will likely make big waves

Speculation abounds as to what we'll see in the new Apple TV. Reports suggest that it will offer 1080p, have 16GB of memory, and be based on the iPhone OS. The big news, though, is the new price point of $99. If all that is true, this Apple TV is poised for a successful run.

AppleTV_image.gifRumor has it that Apple's next version of Apple TV will take the big boys' battle for control of home entertainment to a whole new level. First, it will offer 1080p capability right out of the box. Second, although it will have 16GB of memory on board and optional external storage, it will strongly leverage cloud-based streaming. Third, it will be based on an iPhone platform and OS (which begs the question: Are iPhone apps for the home TV far behind?). Finally, Apple will sell all of this for...$99.
