It’s probably fair to say that for most robot vac users, mopping ability has been mostly hit or miss, and for many users definitely a miss. While many robovac brands promise effortlessly clean floors, the reality is often smeared and smudged floors, spilled dirty water and overall frustration. YEEDI however have been working hard to change all that, and have come up with some solid innovations that might just make floor mopping a go-to feature on the next generation of vacs. Buy it here!
You might not be very familiar with YEEDI since there are so many robot vacuum brands in the market, such as Roborock, iRobot, and bigger brands like Dyson and Shark, Yeedi is a mid-range robot vacuum brand that delivers accessible pricing while integrating advanced technologies.
The beauty of having a robot vacuum is that when they work well, they feel almost indispensable. When they don’t quite navigate the home accurately, get stuck, or completely miss large swathes of the floor, they can cause more mess and hassle than they save. My last encounter with a product that proclaimed to offer vacuuming and mopping was far from satisfactory, so what’s new? The latest robot vacuum M14 Plus from YEEDI and their new OZMO Roller tech.
The problem with traditional mopping systems is their reliance on flat pad mop technology and its tendency to leave you with a streaky, wet floor. There’s also the issue of stains. What’s the point of having a robot mop if you have to take your floor mop out and get rid of those stubborn stains yourself? YEEDI’s M14 Plus dispose of the common flat pad design and uses a roller mop design they claim to be much more effective at floor mopping.
Roller-type cleaning is not an entirely new thing and has actually been around for quite a while in regular upright vacuums. YEEDI teamed up with Tineco, a well established floor cleaning company with exactly the right know-how to help integrate a roller system inside a robot vacuum.
YEEDI claims that the new roller design can apply up to 4,000 Pa of pressure to the floor - in other words, it really puts its shoulder into the job. The roller also spins at 200 RPM and is cleaned by sixteen small nozzles which shoot fresh water at the mop to keep it freshly renewed and up to the job. YEEDI claims that its new mop design handles dirt and the stains without leaving unwanted residue or smears. What’s not to like?
For folks like myself who have four legged friends in residence, YEEDI has also made plenty of effort to avoid the robot’s vacuum brushes getting clogged and tangled up. The main brush uses a V-shaped cyclone design to force unwanted hair into its dustbin, plus a side brush to help with general sweeping. Worth mentioning is its design, I just love how minimalist the product looks, with its pure white body and refined rose gold accents creating a striking yet understated statement.
The M14 Plus also includes several sensors to help get the job done. There’s a 3D edge sensor to help it cover the entire room and get as close to the edge of your floors and furniture as possible. Navigation is aided with both Lidar and Dual Structure technology to help it judge distances between objects strewn on the floor i.e. your socks, slippers and other domestic debris. Buy it here!
