Sony is set to introduce a new addition to its gaming ecosystem later this year with the launch of the PlayStation Portal, a handheld device designed to enable remote play for PS5 games. This device aims to expand the accessibility and versatility of the PlayStation experience, allowing gamers to stream their favorite titles directly from their PS5 consoles to the portable device.
Formerly known as Project Q, the PlayStation Portal is designed to seamlessly connect to a PS5 console over Wi-Fi, enabling players to transition from their console to the handheld effortlessly.
Hideaki Nishino, Senior Vice President of Platform Experience at Sony Interactive Entertainment, highlighted the device's capabilities, stating, "PlayStation Portal will connect remotely to your PS5 over Wi-Fi, so you'll be able to swiftly jump from playing on your PS5 to your PlayStation Portal."
The device features an eight-inch LCD screen that boasts a resolution of 1080p and a smooth 60 frames per second, promising an immersive gaming experience. One of the standout features of the PlayStation Portal is its incorporation of the PS5 DualSense controller's adaptive triggers and haptic feedback.
