Sony says they are planning to initiate the program by sending out beta invitations to early adopters of their PlayStation Plus paid subscription program, as well as members of the Gamer Advisory Panel. This program is planned as a free offering and should become available to all PlayStation Network members sometime next spring.
The program will break down into three levels: Select, Pro, and Legendary. Players are assigned to a level based on the amount of activity they register on their PlayStation 3. This includes playing games, downloading items from the PlayStation Store, or even taking surveys. Sony also plans to eventually expand the loyalty program to the PlayStation Portable or PSP.
What are the perks? Dynamic avatars and themes, and also members-only contests. The first sweepstakes announced will see a grand prize of an expenses paid trip to next year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
