Polk Audio's new HTS10 and HTS12 subwoofers, part of the Home Theater Series, feature front-firing 10-inch and 12-inch Dynamic Balance woofers, respectively. Both models use Polk's patented PowerPort technology to reduce port noise and improve bass response, and both use Class D amplification (200 watts for the HTS10 and 400 watts for the HTS12). The HTS10 is priced at $349.95, and the HTS12 is priced at $449.95; both will be available in October.
Polk Audio has introduced two new powered subwoofers as part of the Home Theater Series (HTS) Subwoofers, the HTS10 and HTS12, designed to add powerful, deep bass to any home theater setup. The HTS Subwoofers are the only subwoofers to feature Polk's Patented PowerPort technology, which reduces port noise via a proprietary cone that sits just within the port, designed to deliver louder, lower and more accurate bass response. Powered by 200W and 400W Class D amplifiers, respectively, users will immediately feel the commanding bass impact, bringing their favorite music and movies to life.
"Tight bass is an incredibly important factor to any audio system. Our HTS Subwoofers provide increased amplification, improved driver construction and great dynamic range, all factors that are going to completely amaze and delight listeners," said Michael Greco, global brand director, Polk Audio. "When it comes to subwoofers, efficiency and accuracy are absolutely crucial to deliver clean, chest-thumping bass. This is why we chose to leverage Polk's PowerPort technology for the HTS Subwoofers--it dramatically reduces port turbulence and noise while preserving depth and clarity."
Each subwoofer boasts either a front-firing 10 or 12-inch Dynamic Balance driver, and our world-class audio teams have optimized our drivers to provide better linearity and greater overall durability for years of use. PowerPort technology delivers incredibly deep bass response, smoothly transitioning airflow from the speaker into the listening area for an extended bass impact, minimized turbulence and distortion. The HTS Subwoofers are universally compatible with home theater equipment and features connectivity via LFE or component inputs, making it a perfect complement to any home theater system.
The quality-crafted cabinet is built with a strong, rigid and acoustically inert enclosure and designed with curved edges, for a beautiful look that easily fits with any home décor. Its non-resonant Meddite MDF construction, with extra bracing, ensures a more life-like sound reducing unwanted internal standing waves for less coloration. In addition, the HTS Subwoofers boast easily accessible controls for volume, low pass filter, phase, and a 12V trigger for on/off power switching.
• Frequency Response: HTS12 delivers 22Hz - 180Hz (- 10dB)/28Hz - 120Hz (- 3 dB); HTS10
delivers 25Hz to 180Hz (- 10dB)/30Hz to 120Hz (- 3dB)
• Amplification: Class D amplifier produces 100W continuous/200W Peak and 200W
continuous/400W Peak (<1% THD) for both the 10-and 12-inch subwoofers, respectively
• Amplifier Supply Voltage: Dual voltage Auto-Switching Power Supply: 110-240 VAC, 50-60Hz
• Power Toggle: Set to DC Control (12V trigger) or Auto On/Off
• Inputs: LFE In and gold-plated RCA line level inputs
• Phase Adjustment: Toggle Switch 0/180 degrees
The new HTS Subwoofers will be available for sale in October 2017 at Crutchfield and Amazon. Customers can also purchase the subwoofers at PolkAudio.com.
