In a nod to its rich history, Pro-Ject Audio Systems has introduced the Perspective Final Edition, a limited-edition turntable that blends classic design with contemporary engineering. Handmade in Europe and limited to just 400 units, this new model is the first in a series of Final Edition releases that celebrate Pro-Ject's illustrious past.
The Perspective Final Edition draws inspiration from the original transparent Pro-Ject 6.9 Perspective, which marked the company's entry into the high-end turntable market in the 1990s. Priced at £1,299 (USA pricing TBA), this turntable combines nostalgia with modern performance enhancements.
The design philosophy of the Perspective Final Edition is rooted in the 6.9 Perspective from the '90s, featuring a transparent acrylic plinth that sets it apart. This nod to the past is not merely cosmetic, as Pro-Ject integrates the latest build techniques and upgrades parts to deliver a turntable that embodies both classic aesthetics and 2023 performance.
Building upon the 6.9 Perspective's design, the Perspective Final Edition boasts a decoupled sub-chassis and three adjustable springs. This innovative construction prevents vibrations from reaching the needle, ensuring a superior audio experience. The turntable rests on height-adjustable aluminum spikes, minimizing contact area and further reducing vibration.
The 300mm precision aluminum platter with TPE damping sits on a high-precision stainless steel axle in the bronze bushing and is driven by a belt turned by a two-speed electronic speed-controlled motor. Speed drift is listed as 33: +/-0.25%; 45: +/-0.23%.
Unlike its predecessor, the Perspective Final Edition features an electronic speed-switch-controlled two-speed motor, providing a more precise and user-friendly experience. Pro-Ject replaces the original multi-motor solution, allowing vinyl to spin at different tempos, with this upgraded system.
The turntable is equipped with gold-plated RCA connectors and a nine-inch one-piece carbon fiber tonearm, featuring a fully adjustable azimuth and vertical tracking angle. It comes pre-fitted with an Ortofon 2M Bronze cartridge, valued at £365 RRP.
The Perspective Final Edition package includes a dust cover for added protection. Buyers of this limited-edition turntable receive a personalized certificate of ownership, emphasizing the exclusivity of their purchase. Pro-Ject also offers the option to request a personalized, serial-numbered plaque for their deck, adding a bespoke touch to each unit.
The Pro-Ject Audio Systems Perspective Final Edition, limited to 400 pieces, is set to launch in November 2023. As the first in the Final Edition series, it represents a unique opportunity for audio enthusiasts to own a piece of Pro-Ject's history.
