Proton was founded in 1981 and initially produced a line of refined portable and tabletop radios. Proton then delved into the audio/video sector with an acclaimed line of consumer and professional televisions and monitors, complemented with mobile audio, surround decoder, and even audio separates offerings.

Proton owns a patent for its Dynamic Power on Demand circuit, incorporated into some its products. Today, Proton focuses on LCD televisions
