Simon Webster, Rega's Marketing and Sales Coordinator, explains, "This is a brand new loudspeaker designed from the ground up to partner with and complement the reference range of electronics designed by Rega."
The RS10's design features a similar side-firing woofer arrangement as that used in Rega's current floorstanding speaker models, but it features a new mid- and upper-frequency driver arrangement consisting of a BMR (Balanced Mode Radiator) and traditional soft dome tweeter handmade by Rega.
BMRs have been difficult to work with in the past, as they typically require a crossover in the most important vocal range. However, the RS10 uses both a BMR and a soft dome tweeter, allowing the crossover point of the BMR to be above vocal range. The BMR is also designed with a band pass arrangement in the cabinet, reportedly optimizing vocal definition.
The RS10 will be demonstrated in Rega's exhibit room in the Venetian at CES. Paul Darwin of Rega will be on hand to answer questions about the RS10's design and engineering.
